2010 Money Matters Resolutions

by dr. donyell on December 31, 2009

I know people will often say that it’s pointless to make resolutions because too often you end up not following through on them.

I contend that follow through or not, resolutions provide an excellent opportunity to jumpstart some positive change in one’s life (and that can’t be a bad thing).

So here are a few of my money-related new year’s resolutions:

  1. Pay off credit cards. I have three credit cards, and the balances are not exceedingly high, so it makes perfect sense to pay them off and get a little boost in my credit score.
  2. Continue saving. I started a nest egg savings account in October. I plan to set up two more saving accounts – one for moving (relocation) and one for a vacation. Eventually I want to explore more advanced investing/saving options, but I have a lot to learn, so part of this resolution entails learning about advanced financial management.
  3. Two no-spend days/week. I will have two no-spend days per week. Days can vary from week to week, but prior to each week I will pick two days to put the wallet away.

Do you have any money-related resolutions?
